Here are just a few simple tips for placing your items into container storage:

– Use good quality, fully filled boxes to avoid collapsing;

– Try using plastic boxes so that the contents inside are visible;

– Mark the boxes to make them identifiable and keep a record of what you have put into storage for future reference;

– Protect fragile items with bubble wrap to avoid breakage;

– When storing fridges or freezers ensure they are clean and dry with the doors open to allow ventilation;

– Cover items with clean and dry dust covers to avoid dust settlement on your belongings;

– Avoid the possibility of condensation build up by storing items which are clean and dry;

– Always store items which will be regularly used at the front of the container to allow ease of access when retrieving them.

No, you are given a remote control at the beginning of your rental for the gate-controlled entry system which allows 24 hours a day, 7 days a week access to your container at no additional charge.

We pride ourselves on making available the first online rental/payment system for container self-storage in Scotland, allowing you to rent online and set up regular or recurring payments. This online system allows you to manage your rental online. We also accept bank transfer and cash or cheque in person.

Payment is due in advance at a fixed amount + VAT per month, this will be due on the same date each month from the rental start date. This ensures you have a regular and fixed payment each month.

We believe you and only you should have access to the container, so we ask you to provide your own padlock while being rest assured, you’re the only one with the key.

There is a minimum rental period of 1 month and no maximum, you can hire for as long as you need!

Our one trip containers are modern with fully fitted ventilators and not flat-roofed, therefore we have very few issues with condensation build up. Condensation can occur through the rise and fall of the temperature outside mixed with moisture already in the container. This can be avoided by ensuring your items are dry when storing.

Our one trip 20ft containers are made from corten steel and are wind and watertight. The containers are located within a new fully fitted steel palisade fenced site, using high powered LED Flood-lighting and 24-Hour HD CCTV. You take the security of your possessions seriously and so do Top Box Self Storage.

Top Box Self Storage does not provide insurance for the contents of the containers, but you can seek adequate insurance if required.

We only require 14 day’s notice before leaving. At this point, you will be sent any refunds due or invoiced for monies owed.

New and one trip containers are essentially the same things. One trip containers are used to ship a single cargo load and once they have arrived at their destination they are sold. Unlike a lot of other Self-Storage Companies who use second-hand containers, at Top Box Self Storage we have one trip.
